Taken in August in a field near Ombersley which was literally swarming with Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) butterflies.

Painted lady (Vanessa cardui) butterflies migrate from North Africa to the UK in summer. In some years, as when this picture was taken in 2009, they can be seen in huge numbers.
