The Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare was originally opened in 1904. It was damaged by fire in 1930 and again in 2008.

After being completely destroyed in the latest fire of 28 July 2008, the new pier was rebuilt at a cost of £39 million. The picture above was taken in July 2009, one year on from the fire and just over a year before its reopening on 23 October 2010.
